Chris Burge brings more than a decade of corporate and managerial experience to the Milling Benson Woodward team. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in English from Lipscomb University, and his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law, Mr. Burge joined a national administrative legal company specializing in large-scale class actions, securities, and bankruptcy settlements. There he managed large claims processing and call center teams, and was intricately involved with operations, human resources, vendor relations, and business development.
Mr. Burge transferred to Louisiana to serve as a project manager over the processing of Deepwater Horizon claims. After claims processing ended, he decided to remain in Louisiana permanently and joined a local, nationally recognized third-party insurance administration company. In this role, Mr. Burge developed an intimate understanding of health insurance and the healthcare industry by analyzing individual and aggregate claims coverage data, drafting client-tailored plan documents and benefit summaries, handling claims appeals and Department of Insurance inquiries, and evaluating complex coverage and audit issues.
In 2020, Mr. Burge decided to capitalize on his education and experience by pursing a legal career as a practicing attorney. After passing the Louisiana Bar Exam, Mr. Burge joined the team at Milling Benson and Woodward, where he applies his diverse and extensive corporate experience to client representation in business transactions, insurance coverage and defense, governmental entity defense, healthcare compliance and contracts, and general tort and contract law litigation across Louisiana. Mr. Burge understands that success in law, as in business, stems from the ability to anticipate the motivations and goals of the people on both sides of the table.
